Save on Every Lesson with a Season Pool Pass

What to Know Before You Register

Lesson Policies

Swim lessons will be held as scheduled unless there is lightning in the area or rain becomes heavy enough that instructors cannot see below the surface of the water. When a cancellation is necessary, we will notify enrolled participants by email as early as possible — please ensure your RecDesk account has a current email address on file.

If a class is cancelled due to weather, a makeup class will be scheduled. Makeup classes are typically held the following Monday at the same time as the cancelled class. Makeup dates and times are subject to change based on staffing and lane availability — participants will be notified by email with the confirmed makeup schedule. If makeup classes cannot be accommodated before the end of the season, undelivered classes will be refunded on a per-class basis.

Classes missed due to personal absence — including illness, vacation, or any reason other than a weather cancellation declared by Hall Memorial Pool staff — do not receive a refund, credit, or makeup class. Your enrollment holds your spot in the class regardless of attendance.

A minimum of 3 registered participants is required for a class to run. If a class doesn’t reach the minimum by the start of the first class, the class will not run and all registered participants will be fully refunded.

No. Parents and guardians must remain on the pool deck during group lessons and may not enter the water. Instructors assess each participant on the first class day and may recommend a different level if needed.

Enrollment closes before the 3rd class of each format. For Tuesday-Only and Thursday-Only classes, enrollment closes at noon on July 21 and July 23 respectively. For Wednesday/Friday Session 1, enrollment closes noon July 15. For Saturday/Sunday Session 1, enrollment closes 10 PM July 17. Session 2 deadlines: Wed/Fri closes noon August 12, Sat/Sun closes 10 PM August 14.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Before you start: You need a free RecDesk account. Create one at bgcmetronorth.org/create — takes a minute, can be done on your phone.

  1. Go to the Hall Memorial Pool page and click “Buy a Day Pass Online.” Sign in if prompted.
  2. Find the date you are coming and click Register Now. Only today and tomorrow are available — if a date shows “Registration begins…” it is not open yet.
  3. Add the first person attending. Under Member, choose the family member going in the pool. Select their fee type — Adult (13+) $5.00 or Child (12 & under) $3.00. If paying cash at the front desk, check “Pay Later.” Click Save.
  4. Add everyone else. Click “Register another Household Member for this program” and repeat for each person in your group.
  5. Sign the waiver. Click Go to Checkout and accept the liability waiver. You only need to sign it once per summer — if you’ve signed before, it’s on file.
  6. Finish. Pay by card now, or click Process Now to pay cash at the front desk when you arrive. You’re on the list!

Before you start: You need a free RecDesk account. Create one at bgcmetronorth.org/create.

  1. Go to bgcmetronorth.org/pass and sign in.
  2. Find your pass type — Individual ($100), Family ($150), or Senior 60+ ($50) — and click Enroll.
  3. Choose your fee type. Resident pricing is for verified Malden residents only — you’ll need to show a Malden ID at the gate on your first visit before the discount is applied.
  4. Add household members. For a Family pass, check everyone covered. Same last name, same household — passes cannot be shared outside the immediate family.
  5. Check out. Sign the liability waiver (once per summer) and complete payment. Your pass is active immediately and unlocks season pass holder pricing on swim lessons.

Use the class finder on this page — it will guide you through selecting your child’s age, level, day format, session, and time slot, then take you directly to checkout in RecDesk for that specific class. You will need a RecDesk account to complete registration. The liability waiver only needs to be signed once per summer.

Tuesday Only and Thursday Only are once-weekly formats that run for the entire summer — 7 classes total, no session split. You register once and attend every week. Tuesday classes run in the afternoon (3:00, 3:45, or 4:30 PM). Thursday classes run in the morning (9:00, 9:45, or 10:30 AM). These are ideal for families who want a consistent weekly commitment without choosing between Session 1 and Session 2.

Wednesday & Friday and Saturday & Sunday are session-based formats — your child attends twice a week for either 4 weeks (Session 1, 8 classes) or 3 weeks (Session 2, 6 classes). These are ideal for families who want more frequent practice over a shorter window, or who want to try a session before committing to the full summer.

Both formats run simultaneously at the pool — two classes run at the same time in adjacent lanes, one Pre-K and one Youth. Class sizes are small: max 4 for Pre-K, max 6 for Youth.

Use the class finder on this page — it walks you through a few simple questions about your child’s current ability and routes you to the right level. If you’re still unsure after using the finder, email us at hallpool@bgcmetronorth.org or call (781) 481-9092 during pool hours and we’ll help you figure it out.

Yes — a liability waiver is required for all pool participants. You will be prompted to sign it during the RecDesk checkout process when you register. The waiver only needs to be signed once per summer — if you’ve already signed it for a day pass or season pass purchase, it is on file and you won’t be asked again.
