A Typical Day at Camp

Our schedule balances choice with structure.
Note: All activities, including Art and STEM, are integrated with that week’s specific theme!

Time Activity
8:00 AM – 9:30 AM Arrival & Open Choice: Kids trickle in and choose their activity! Gym is open for basketball/games, rooms are open for cards/art, and morning snack is provided.
9:45 AM Morning Rally: All campers break out into their specific age-based groups for the day.
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Specialist Blocks: Groups rotate through specialized activities (STEM, Art, Music) led by our Enrichment Team.
12:00 PM – 12:30 PM Lunch: Fuel up for the afternoon (Campers must bring their own packed, Nut-Free lunch).
12:30 PM – 3:30 PM Afternoon Rotations: Groups rotate through Home Base, Gym Games, Outdoor Field Activities, and Art.
3:30 PM – 5:30 PM Dismissal & Structured Enrichment: As pickup begins, all Enrichment Rooms (STEM/Art) and the Gym remain open and fully staffed for engaging activities until you arrive.

*On Tuesdays, afternoon program periods are replaced by our 2-hour trip to the brand new Hall Memorial Pool!

Deposit & Payment Policy

1. SECURE YOUR SPOT

A $50.00 non-refundable deposit is required at checkout to reserve your week. This amount is deducted from the total fee (it is NOT an extra charge).

2. STRICT PAYMENT DEADLINE

The remaining balance is due 14 days prior to the start of the session (e.g., Week 1 balance is due June 8th).

⚠️ IMPORTANT: LATE PAYMENT POLICY

No Exceptions: If the balance is not paid by the 14-day deadline, your child’s spot will be forfeited immediately to the waitlist, and the deposit will be lost.

3. WE’LL REMIND YOU

We send email reminders 10, 5, and 1 day before the due date so you don’t miss the deadline.

4. SKIP THE HASSLE (TIP!)

Save a card on file during registration! We can automatically process your balance on the due date so you don’t have to log in again.

When you reach the program registration screen, the system will default to showing the full weekly tuition (e.g., $335). You do not need to pay the full amount today!

⚠️ IMPORTANT:
You must check the box labeled “Pay only security deposit of $50.00” (located directly under the “Fee Type” dropdown).

If you leave this box unchecked, the system will charge the full tuition amount immediately. If you check it, you will only be charged the $50 non-refundable deposit per week.

A $50 non-refundable deposit is required for each week you reserve. This deposit is part of the weekly fee, not an extra charge.

Example: If the weekly rate is $335, you pay $50 now to lock it in. The remaining $285 is due 14 days before that specific week begins.

Cancellation Note: If you cancel before that 14-day deadline, you forfeit the $50 deposit, but you will not be charged the remaining balance.

No! There are no residency restrictions for our summer camps. We proudly welcome families from all surrounding communities.

While our camps are physically located in Stoneham and Wakefield, many of our campers join us from Saugus, Melrose, Woburn, Reading, Winchester, and Malden. Everyone is welcome to join the fun!

We have simplified our pricing to offer more value! To support working families, we have eliminated extra fees for “Early Drop-Off” and “Late Pick-Up.”

Your weekly rate now automatically covers the full day window (8:00 AM – 5:30 PM). Whether you need the extra hours or not, you have the flexibility to drop off and pick up anytime within that window at no additional cost.

A “Rising 5th Grader” is a student who has completed 4th grade and is entering 5th grade in the fall. These students have a unique option!

The Choice is Yours:
  • Traditional Camp (Stoneham/Wakefield): Best if your child prefers more structure, traditional camp games, and being the oldest leaders in the group.
  • Teen Camp: Best if your child is ready for more freedom, specialized activities (Esports, STEM, Music), and hanging out with older peers.
We leave this decision entirely to parent discretion based on what you feel is the best fit for your child’s maturity and interests.

Yes! We are thrilled to return to Hall Memorial Pool, which is being completely rebuilt from the ground up as a brand-new facility for the 2026 season.

We travel by bus once a week for a dedicated swim block. The trip is fully supervised, but if you prefer your child not to swim, they may opt out and remain at camp with staff for alternative activities.

No. Unlike many other programs, we do not require a paid membership or “joining fee” to access our camp or our Early Bird pricing.

We believe in keeping access open for all families. You only need a free RecDesk account to log in and register. The rate you see is the rate you pay—no hidden fees!

No. Our program is licensed for school-age children who have completed Kindergarten.

The Rule of Thumb: To attend Camp Stoneham or Wakefield, your child must be a “Rising 1st Grader” (entering 1st grade in the fall) or older.

We do not currently offer summer programming for Pre-K or Rising Kindergarten students. We look forward to seeing them next year!

We are very strict regarding pick-up times. Our staff work long days to provide a safe experience for your child, and they need to be dismissed on time.

Late Policy: A late fee of $1.00 per minute will be charged for every minute past 5:30 PM. Consistent lateness may result in removal from the program.

Need to pick up early? No problem! Please just notify the Camp Director at drop-off or call the main office so we can have your child ready.

With over 100 active kids, lost items happen. Please label EVERY item (water bottles, towels, sweatshirts, lunch boxes) with your child’s first and last name.

We maintain a Lost & Found bin, but the Boys & Girls Club is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property. Pro Tip: Leave expensive electronics and trading cards at home!

We take allergies very seriously. “Nut-Free” means strictly no peanuts, tree nuts, or shellfish. We diligently check food that comes into camp to ensure safety.

Please double-check your labels! The most common mistake is sending peanut butter in sandwiches or granola bars. If a restricted product is found, it will be sealed and set aside by staff immediately.

Medical Needs: If your child requires an EpiPen or Inhaler, you must inform the Site Director before the start of camp. The medication itself must be delivered to the site prior to your child’s first day to ensure we are fully prepared.

We do not offer refunds or pro-rated discounts for missed days due to illness, vacation, or “opting out” of an activity. Our staffing and resource costs are fixed based on enrollment.

Weather: Camp runs rain or shine! We have full access to our indoor facility (Gym, Game Room, Art Room) so the fun continues regardless of the weather.

Sunscreen: We take sun safety seriously! Please apply a base layer to your child before drop-off.

During the day, we schedule dedicated “Sunscreen Breaks” in both the morning and afternoon. Staff provide frequent reminders and supervision to ensure every child has the opportunity to re-apply, especially before outdoor play.

Note: Staff are not permitted to physically apply lotion. We strongly recommend sending spray sunscreen, as staff can assist with directing the spray if needed.
Medication: Generally, medication cannot be kept in a child’s backpack. It must be delivered to the Site Coordinator in its original prescription bottle prior to the first day of camp.

Self-Administration (EpiPens/Inhalers): Children ages 9 and older may carry and self-administer their own EpiPen or Inhaler only if we have a doctor’s note on file. For children under 9, these must be held by the Health Supervisor.

There are two important forms you may need. Please note that all forms must be submitted in HARD COPY to the Site Director prior to your child’s first day of camp.

Yes! We believe in transparency and safety. Our Parent Handbook outlines our behavioral expectations, Code of Conduct, and detailed safety policies.

We ask that you review these expectations with your camper prior to the summer to ensure a respectful and fun environment for everyone.

We work hard to keep care affordable with rates far below private child care. We also accept Massachusetts state vouchers (EEC/Child Care Circuit) and offer limited financial assistance for families enrolled in our licensed programs.

Priority is given to families who qualify for a state voucher but don’t have one yet. Funding is limited, so please apply as early as possible.

Good news: We have reserved spots specifically for families using a state voucher (EEC), so your child’s place is secure.
